College of Paramedicine

History

X-ray Technology was originally introduced in 1977 by the Liberal Arts Department, to meet the local, national and even international demands for this specialization.

From the years 1974 to 1985, Mr. Jose Ma. Jaena became Dean of the Liberal Arts Department. Inclusive to years 1977 to 1990, Dr. Honesto Diaz headed the X-ray Technology while Mrs. Felicidad Jesena (1985-1986) and Mrs. Nelly Gustillo (1989-1990) became the Deans of the Liberal Arts Department respectively. Ms. Renee Bella Padilla took over the deanship in the years 1990-1993 with Dr. Andres Bayona Jr. as the Head of X-ray Technology also during the same years.

By 1993, the College of Paramedicine was created and offered the following courses namely: Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology, Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy, and Associate in Radiologic Technology.

In 1994, Physical Therapy was spun off as a separate department. The College of Paramedicine was then headed by Dr. Condrado Cadorna who also acted as head of the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology (BSMT) which opened in 1994.

In 1996, the College of Paramedicine was divided into two departments: Radiologic Technology and Medical Laboratory, headed by Dr. Andres A. Bayona Jr. and Dr. Mary Dale Hedda R. De Juan, respectively, under the deanship of Dr. Cecilia L. Lopez.

After a serious course curricular review, the B.S. Medical Technology was revised. The present course and content of the program was designed to meet the changing demands of the course internationally. Hence, the students of the program graduate with the title: Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) starting Academic Year 2006-2007.
